Christmas is a time when you can feel the loss of a loved one more than perhaps any other time of the year. Hospice Waikato "Christmas Trees of Remembrance" appeal is a popular way for the community to remember their loved ones by writing a special message on a small heart, cross, koru or star and placing it on one of the Hospice Christmas Trees of Remembrance. This year Hospice is introducing a new way to remember loved ones, by offering large Memory Stars for families to decorate in honour of their loved one. The Memory Stars will be placed on the Christmas Tree in Garden Place and are available from all Hospice Christmas Trees of Remembrance sites throughout December (8th - 24th). Families and people purchasing stars at $15 each have the option to place the star themselves on the tree at a special remembrance ceremony. (Date and time to be advised)
The money raised will help care for Waikato people with life limiting illnesses.
So when you see a Hospice Christmas Tree of Remembrance, take a moment to reflect on the things that really matter and spare a kind thought for the good work the Hospice does throughout the year.
